Creatures

There are multiple humanoid species in Curiah City, as well as subspecies and abilities they may possess.

Humans: Regular ol’ people. Don’t possess any inherent abilities, but can receive abilities or traits from other supernatural beings.

Were-humans: Humanoid animals with the ability to shift between two or more forms. These forms appear as variations of one, or a mix, of different Earth animals.

Mumus: Goat or cow-like humanoids with long limbs, large snouts, long ears, and often times horns. They don’t normally possess any supernatural abilities, but can receive abilities or traits from other supernatural beings.

-Like humans, Mumus can be found all around the globe. Their traits vary slightly based on their nationality.

Gremlins: Short, small humanoids with long tails and large pointed ears. They tend to be disproportionate compared to humans, with small bodies and oversized and/or undersized limbs.

-Like humans, Gremlins can be found all around the globe. Their traits vary slightly based on their nationality.

Merfolk: Sea-dwelling humanoids who have a fish-like appearance, but can also morph to resemble a land dwelling human. Can swim swiftly and breathe underwater in their natural form, as well as communicate telepathically with each other.

-Some merfolk are able to control others with their vocalizations, these merfolk are referred to as Sirens.

-Like humans, Merfolk can be found all around the globe. Their traits vary slightly based on their nationality.

Dragons: Any monstrous being that doesn’t resemble a known Earth creature may be labeled as a dragon. These beings are able to morph themselves into other creatures, including any humanoid or animal, but still retain certain physical traits resembling their original form. These people are extremely uncommon and often feared when seen in their true forms, so they tend to shy away and take on disguises to hide within in society.

-Few giant creatures exist; these are known as Kaiju, and can be hundreds of feet long and several stories tall; these massive creatures can fly through the air and cause destruction if ever they choose- but most dragons are much smaller by comparison, reaching around 20 feet or so in height.

Angels: Beings possessing supernatural abilities that extend far-beyond those used by any other creature. They seem to be able to bend time and space to their will. What their true forms are is unknown, as they tend to look like any normal human. They’re almost unheard of in modern society and were mostly seen during the dark and middle ages, fighting dragons and rescuing people.

Demons: A generally derogatory term used against any monster or inhuman creature, even Were-humans or humans who possess supernatural abilities. Most monsters dislike being referred to as “demons,” though more chaotic creatures may take a liking to the nickname.

Witches/Warlocks: Any of the above creatures who use their abilities for nefarious purposes.

Undead/Vampires/Zombies: Creatures brought-back from death and bound spiritually to whomever revived them. They can range from mindless husks to fully-living beings, indistinguishable from mortals. When a creature is brought back from the dead, they’re returned to their body in its current state. Any damage suffered previously is still intact, and may be irreparable.

-Undead beings can only be created by Angels or certain other Undead beings.

Fiends/Eldritch Beings: Any Merperson descended from creatures of the deep. Tend to have a more spooky, otherworldly appearance, and many possess bioluminescence. Tentacles, spines, hard carapaces, etc. are attributes generally associated with Fiends. They may also possess strange psychic abilities, which are not yet fully understood by land dwellers.

Mutts: Any combination of the above creatures can result in a mutt; a mix of traits from both parents, with a resemblance to both as well. Different mutts may have different subspecies names, but considering the variable outcome of genetics; these names are loosely fitting and not always adopted by the creatures in question.
